The team is delighted to share some behind the scenes magic on making the trailer for Halloween.
Halloween sits in a special place in both horror and cinema history. Being able to adapt this property for an interactive medium meant that our teams needed to get in touch with the kernels that make John Carpenter’s Halloween withstand the test of time. What ended up carving out this trailer was the desire to mix modern influences with the touchstones of this IP that everyone knows and loves.
Here’s a deeper look into the storyboarding process from Jared Gerritzen, Head Designer at IllFonic, “We wanted the focus of this trailer to be about the excitement of the IP being made into an immersive experience without giving away too much about that experience. At least, not quite yet, we will share more on that soon! We brought on the dev team behind the game Karma, Pollard out of China, to help with the in-game cinematics to create the eerie feel of walking down a street on Halloween night. The scene goes from normal autumn evening and degrades into the horror that only Michael Myers can bring. We worked with the team at Gun to create a write-up of what we wanted to achieve, and then turned that over to our in-house development team and Pollard’s team to make it happen in-game. I think we nailed it.”
This cinematic trailer is only a slice of what the game entails! The team is so
excited that Halloween will feature both solo and multiplayer modes for gamers to dive into; they will place you directly into your own fateful Halloween night, either as a resident of Haddonfield or as Michael Myers.
The team is excited to discuss gameplay soon so stay tuned for more news!
